Hi, Claire: If you look through my earlier blog postings, you'll see a review of that episode. I quite enjoyed it, but didn't like the monster. Also I enjoyed it much more upon second viewing. That's because this was the first episode I'd seen with Matt Smith as the new Doctor. I watched it on television rather than waiting for the DVD set to come out which is what I always do with Doctor Who. So I didn't really know the new characters well. "Vincent and the Doctor" really is a very good Doctor Who episode, but a few tweaks and it could have been excellent.
